Jason Billy, Head of Client Services at Beatroot/ MIME
Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa into a musical family, it was hard not to fall in love with music. When I moved to the US at age 10, I continued the journey. I used my musician's skills of playing the piano, bass and drums to pursue a career as a producer. I was about 25 years old when I started working with Grand Hustle where I started learning the suit side of the business and started consulting and managing songwriters and producers with my partner B Rich. We helped artists from BoB and Kevin Gates to Cardi B T.I., Latto and Trina. I acquired lots of relationships and business experience that would prepare me for my current role leading the client services team for Beatroot where I also serve as an A&R.
