Jessica K Martin, Founder of Marionette Management
Like most good underdog stories, Jessica K Martin came onto the artist management scene through a healthy mix of hard work, passion, and serendipity. Five months before graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in Communications, Jessica was offered a full time job on the road with a newly signed act from Universal Records. For the next eight years Jessica worked primarily as a tour manager, coordinating every aspect of road life for acts arranging TV appearances, radio visits, label meetings, festivals, and everything in between. It was through a true trial by fire that Jessica “Cousin” Martin learned the music business. Working more than 1300 shows in 12 countries over the span of a decade, she also began overseeing merchandising for high-level acts at major events like Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival and Dispatch’s “Live for Zimbabwe at MSG.” When it was time to head into the recording studio, she was brought in to run point on studio logistics making sure everything ran smoothly and the musicians, producer and engineers were all fed. On January 1, 2014 she opened the doors to her own company, Marionette Management with the mantra “working with artists to bring their visions to life.” In addition to touring clients, she also used her studio experience to add record producers to her roster which is looked after by two employees and a rotating case of interns.
