Peter Leathem OBE - CEO of PPL

Peter Leathem joined PPL as Head of Legal & Business Affairs in 2002. Following several senior positions within the company since that time, including Managing Director, he was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer in January 2012. Prior to joining the company, he was a partner for eight years with City law firm GSC Solicitors, where he specialised in intellectual property.

Peter is a director of PPL, VPL (the music video licensing company), PPL PRS Ltd (the public performance licensing joint venture company with PRS for Music), UK Music (the collective voice of the UK music industry), SCAPR (the international trade body for collective management organizations representing performers) and until recently he was a director of the British Copyright Council (which represents the broader copyright community) for 12 years. He is also Chairman of the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (a healthcare charity for those in the performing arts) and a Trustee of the Ivors Academy Trust (the songwriters’ charity which seeks to educate the public and empower and support music creators). In His Majesty the King’s New Year Honours List 2023, Peter Leathem was awarded the honor of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (“OBE”) for services to the music industry.
